::BAND BIOGRAPHY:: No-wave power pop. Anthemic, convolved punk rock for those whose shoes don't return their longing gazes and whose fists gain more satisfaction pumping the air than punching a nose. Ringer is a guitar-driven Austin, Texas quartet whose songs catch your ear and rock your ass. Tastefully balancing melody and countermelody within a structural context both passively-aggressive and deceptively memorable, Ringer churns out powerful, insinuating songs with a playfulness and sincerity not often seen in these days of buzz-bin regurgitation and derivation. The band's lyrics convey a strange, fatalistic sort of optimism, reminding listeners of what happens if they sit idly by while opportunity beckons from just outside their reach. With music that's wrought with solid, powerful, and sometimes even triumphant hooks, Ringer has claimed their branch on the punk rock family tree. Since their conception in June of 2000, Ringer has been gigging incessantly, sharing numerous weekend marquees with local and regional heroes as well as national acts. Steadily carving a niche of their own, Ringer toured the West coast this summer to support their first full-length release, Presents for the Present, and plan to retrace their steps out West in January.
